Ogwuanyim Education Initiative

Also known as the Ogwuanyim Scholarship Scheme, this educational intervention is open to students of government owned primary and secondary schools only. Scholarships are offered to pupils and students of these schools after a Test which is administered to ascertain their abilities.

For primary school pupils, three pupils in Primaries 4, 5 and 6 are selected in each of the beneficiary schools within the catchment area. Examinations are administered for the students of the respective classes and the best in each class examination wins the scholarship which lasts for the duration of their primary school studies.

For those in the secondary school, the examinations are administered to only students who have just completed their primary education and are preparing to be admitted to JSS1. In the same vein, the best students, male and female from the examination are chosen from each unit of the community. The secondary school scholarship scheme provides for six (6) students in total, three (3) boys and three (3) girls and will last throughout their secondary studies.

The scholarship covers full tuition, uniforms (2 pairs), school sandals, school bags and exercise books to the beneficiaries both in the primary and secondary schools.

The Scheme extends to the provision of school uniforms (including sports wears) for every child in the affected schools notwithstanding that they are not amongst the scholarship beneficiaries.

The Foundation would also develop a Teacher Development Programme (TDP) designed to encourage deserving Teachers in the locality.

The Foundation is in talks with Principals and Head teachers of all the Secondary and Primary Schools in the community to consult with them on the modalities and plans to roll out scholarships and other assistance to the schools within the communities.

Ogwuanyim Foundation provided the 2020 Senior Secondary Three (SS3) students with face masks and hand sanitisers during the period of their West African Senior School Certificate Examinations, in line with World Health organisation (WHO) and Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) Guidelines and Protocols on Covid 19. The idea was to keep the students safe from the virus whilst they concentrated on preparing and taking their examinations.
